Ella McCay is a thoughtful political comedy-drama from writer-director James L. Brooks about an idealistic young politician suddenly thrust into the highest office of her state just as her personal life starts to unravel. When lieutenant governor Ella McCay becomes governor, she must juggle the pressures of public service with the demands of family, relationships, and her own expectations—learning what it really means to lead, love, and survive the people closest to her. With an ensemble cast led by Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis, Woody Harrelson, and Kumail Nanjiani, Ella McCay blends humor and heart in a story about striving to balance ambition with humanity.
