American Rust
American Rust explores the idea of the “tattered American Dream” through the actions and secrets of Del Harris, chief of Police in a Rust Belt Pennsylvania town.
Cop dramas like these provide us with many opportunities for more visceral, immersive sounds. For example, the leather creak and slight jingle of a police officer’s equipment belt gives Harris (Jeff Daniels) sonic support for his gravitas and power. Little foley touches like this subliminally signal to the viewer that this anti-hero means business, and he’s got the tools and the experience to back it up.
